CONGRESSIONAL ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN CAUCUS STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF HOUSE ADMINISTRATION CHAIRWOMAN JUANITA MILLENDER-McDONALD

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Michael Honda (CA-15), Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), issued the following statement on the passing of House Administration Chairwoman Juanita Millender-McDonald:

"On behalf of CAPAC, I join my colleagues to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Representative Juanita Millender-McDonald.

"Representative Millender-McDonald has served our nation and the state of California with great compassion, purpose, and dignity, always advocating for equal rights, particularly voting rights, and equal opportunity for all Americans, and for global citizens around the world.

"In her role as the first African American woman to chair the House Administration Committee, she worked closely with the Congressional Tri-Caucus, consisting of CAPAC, the Congressional Black Caucus, and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, to ensure that voices of all Americans, regardless of race, class, and gender, are heard in our chamber. She was also a member of and strong advocate for CAPAC. We are indebted to her work and will continue to bolster the values and causes to which she has dedicated her public life."
